BACH cantates pour luther – atma classique

This is the eighth release in ATMA’s project to record the sacred cantatas of J.S. Bach in conjunction with Festival Montréal Baroque. This cycle is performed in keeping with the latest scholarship on Bach’s own performances, with the chorus sections sung by the four soloists (Hélène Brunet, soprano, Michael Taylor, countertenor, Philippe Gagné, tenor and Jesse Blumberg, baritone), one voice per part.

To Die, To Sleep – Opera Arias by Handel, Vivaldi and Graun

In his debut solo album, Canadian countertenor Michael Taylor explores the portrayal of sleep, death and madness in baroque opera. Featuring arias from Handel’s Orlando, Giulio Cesare and Tolomeo as well as works by Vivaldi and Graun, Michael is accompanied by “The Dansant”, an international baroque ensemble of talented young musicians performing on period instruments.
